Just out of curiosity, I'm nearing the end of my second playthrough and these are my two best combat rifles:

And honestly they seem like they're a little lacking in the damage department for a level 50, yet I've yet to come across anything really comparable yet in a lot of levels. Is there higher level Combat Rifles like these that are in the 400-500 range or do these types of rifles top out lower then that?

I'm actually rather curious about the same thing. I've been hunting for one that reaches over 300 preferably over 400 for the longest time. I've come across the two guns you've posted once or twice by now. If anyone finds one let me know! [Skippy]

For the machine guns, the Mauler is the highest damage as requested, but note the Havoc is actually more damage per second. Depends how much ammo I feel like burning. I've seen a green Pounder with ~320 damage but it was garbage otherwise. Why are combat rifles so rare? I've never found a usable orange, other than a guardian I used only for extra ammo regen. --Raisins 18:32, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I wish I knew lol. I just picked up a "second tier" Guardian farming New Haven a few minutes ago, great ammo regen but mediocre damage, 180 something I think? Nothing that I would replace what I have now with, anyway. I tend to stay away from the single shot ones, even though they may be a little higher damage then their semi-auto/full-auto counterparts, but even so, it's just odd the lack of Combat Rifles compared to say, pistols or sniper rifles. I swear, every chest I open has a Sniper Rifle in it. Great for the Hunter I duo with, but it makes me wanna tear my hair out...
But yeah, I hardly ever see Orange Combat Rifles...weird.

O.o Ammo Regen. isn't too much of an issue, since I'm using the Soldier with Support Gunner CMod. I really want to find a Machine Gun that at least hits the 300 mark. --Skippity Skipster
- I'm on a PC. I agree ammo regen weapons are marginal as a soldier but it's not like even more is bad. Pounder title rifles are single shot. All the types including the orange ones are listed on Combat Rifle. --Raisins 19:15, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
I'm on XBL and have a pounder that does just over 400 dmg. I also have a Torgue Bastard variant, can't remember exactly what the title is, but it does about 360 dmg and it is full auto.Bipolarattorney 19:35, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

I have noticed the lack of decent combat rifles, but as I play Hunter, it doesn't affect me as much. I do, however, snag somewhat ok combat rifles for a buddy who plays the Soldier. He too bemoans the lack of decent combat rifles. I wish there were, then he'd stop hogging all the good pistols and smgs that fall out of dead bad guys. Pdboddy 21:46, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
